Gardaí in Co Kerry investigating the discovery of the body of an elderly man in Castlemaine yesterday morning say they are awaiting the results of a post mortem examination.
This will determine the course of their investigation.
The body of the man, aged in his 80s, was found at a house on the Tralee Road in Castlemaine.
Gardaí were called to the area after the alarm was raised and the house was immediately sealed off.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was brought to University Hospital Kerry and a post-mortem examination is due to take place, probably today.
The offices of the local coroner and the State Pathologist have been informed.
The house remains sealed off to allow a technical examination take place.
