Counting to get under way in Family and Care referendums

Counting will get underway at 9am in two referendums on the issues of Family and Care.

Voters were given two ballot papers, a white paper for the Family amendment and a green one for the Care amendment.

Turnout across the country was mixed when polls closed at 10pm yesterday.

It reached 50% in some parts but remained below 30% elsewhere.

The results are expected to be declared separately in the afternoon and evening.

Some 86,000 people were added to the electoral register since the start of the year, bringing the total number of eligible voters to almost 3.5 million.
