The Criminal Assets Bureau confiscated a drug dealer’s home in Cabra in Dublin today.
The house at 61 Killala Road was taken from Christopher Waldron after CAB established in court that it was bought with money earned from the sale and supply of drugs in the area.
CAB officers took possession of the house at 11am this morning. It is now boarded up and is due to be sold by private treaty or public auction.
The Bureau also seized seven ladies and gents Rolex, Breitling, Cartier and Hublot watches which it sold for over €72,000 along with €4,605 and £445.
€77,000 has been handed over to the exchequer.
Waldron acquired the house in 2013 and spent almost half-a-million euro renovating it and building an extension out the back.
A quantity surveyor estimated the work cost €430,000, excluding fees.
The money to fund it was found to have come from criminal activity and drug dealing in the Finglas and Cabra areas.
The drug dealer’s assets were seized under court orders granted on 30 March 2023 under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Waldron consented to the orders being made.
The head of the Criminal Assets Bureau Detective Chief Superintendent Michael Gubbins said this evening that while there was a value to the exchequer in seizing the house, cash and luxury goods, more valuable was the message sent to the community that CAB is targeting the assets of these criminals.
