Arrest after woman sexually assaulted, stabbed in Kerry
An investigation is under way after a woman in her 20s was stabbed and sexually assaulted during an incident in Co Kerry earlier today.
Emergency services were called a residential property on Maine Street in Tralee, at around 9.30am.
It is understood that the woman may have been stabbed a number of times.
She was taken to University Hospital Kerry for treatment, where her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Gardaí said a male has been arrested and is being held at a garda station in Kerry.
The scene at Maine Street has been sealed off and a technical examination is under way.
