A man has been arrested after another man died following an alleged assault in Co Kerry in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency services were called to an incident in Knockanure, near Listowel, at around 12.30am, where a man in his 40s was discovered with fatal injuries and pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has been removed to University Hospital Kerry, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
A man in his 30s has been arrested and is being held at a garda station in Kerry.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, particularly any road users who were travelling in the area of Knockanure village between 12am, and 1am and who may have video footage (including dash cam), to contact Listowel Garda Station on 068 50820, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800, 666 111 or any garda station.
