An Post to raise price of domestic stamp by 5c to €1.40

An Post is to increase the cost of domestic stamps by 5c from the start of next month.

A national stamp will rise in price by 3.7% to €1.40.

This follows a hike last January, which saw prices rise by 10c from €1.25 to €1.35.

There will be no change to the cost of a worldwide letter stamp which is currently priced at €2.20, or the national digital stamp introduced back in 2022, which costs €2.00.

However, some other rates such as those for large envelopes and registered post will increase.

An Post has blamed the rising cost of transport, fuel and energy for this latest price increase.

“These increases are necessary to cover rising costs and ensure service continuity and innovation on par with the best in Europe,” said Garrett Bridgeman, Managing Director of An Post Commerce.

“We’re alleviating the impact on SMEs and personal customers by providing discounts and regular price promotions through the year at post offices and online,” he added.

An Post said existing stamps will remain valid after these changes are introduced on 1 February.
